Network Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer for a 1-year contract opportunity in Plano, Texas. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining, optimizing, and securing enterprise network infrastructure with a strong emphasis on wireless (Aruba) environments. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with solid technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the flexibility to support on-site projects, on-call duties, and occasional travel.

Work Schedule: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM CST
Key Expectations: Ability to work overtime and travel overnight as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize computer networks, including routers, switches, VPNs, and related hardware/software components.
  • Configure and manage Aruba wireless infrastructure (Mobility Conductor, Mobility Controllers, Access Points, and switches).
  • Perform Wi-Fi RF planning, site surveys, and tuning to deliver optimal coverage, signal quality, and minimal interference.
  • Implement and monitor network security measures, including 802.1X, RADIUS/EAP-TLS authentication, and Role-Based Access Control via ClearPass.
  • Monitor network performance and implement improvements across all connected systems.
  • Create and maintain firewall rules; update software and security systems to protect data and communications.
  • Provide on-site support for installation and project-related activities.
  • Update network equipment with the latest firmware releases.
  • Deliver Tier 2/3 support to diagnose, isolate, and resolve wireless connectivity and performance issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and report network status to stakeholders.
  • Continuously develop knowledge of network and security best practices to recommend effective solutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant network engineering or administration experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service and build strong working relationships.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to collect/analyze information, troubleshoot complex issues, and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Experience implementing and operating wireless networks (Cisco or Aruba) is a plus.
  • Prior network administration experience is a plus.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Must be able to work overtime and travel overnight when required.
